Avathon and IIT Roorkee launch Physical AI Lab

The lab will be established in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Roorkee. It will support collaborative research in Physical AI, and encourage partnerships with academic institutions in India and around the world.

The partnership combines Avathon’s experience in bringing AI-powered autonomy to industrial operations with IIT Roorkee’s research expertise in areas such as machine learning, optimisation, knowledge representation, and multi-agent systems.

The lab will focus on solving complex industrial challenges, including large-scale supply planning and logistics. It will also work on autonomous systems that can use knowledge, learn continuously, and improve industrial operations.

Avathon PAL will work closely with Avathon’s new AI Center of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. Together, the lab and COE will connect academic research with real-world industrial applications.

Research from IIT Roorkee will support the development of AI solutions for industries such as mining, energy, manufacturing, logistics, and aerospace. The Bengaluru COE will lead Avathon’s growing research and engineering work in India and work closely with the lab on industry-focused projects.
