MetOx International, a developer and manufacturer of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) wire, secures $25million in series B extension round funding.

MetOx International, a developer and manufacturer of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) wire, secures $25million in series B extension round funding.

Centaurus and New System Ventures led the financing. The money will be used by the business to grow both its operations and growth initiatives. MetOx is a developer and producer of high-temperature superconducting wire, with CEO Bud Vos at the helm.

It is increasing the scale of its manufacturing to provide HTS solutions for energy transmission, wind power, fusion energy, medicinal applications, aerospace, and defense by utilizing patented production technology.

The business intends to produce solutions that improve this energy infrastructure and support growing applications including medical devices, aerospace, and defense industries where its lightweight, high-power technologies present distinct benefits by continuing to innovate and scale in HTS.

About MetOx

Dr. Ignatiev, co-founder and current CSO of MetOx, conducted research that is the basis for the company’s superconductor technology. Alex was a physics and materials science professor at the University of Houston, where he has done a lot of research on cutting edge thin film deposition techniques. Following Professor Paul Chu’s discovery of YBCO HTS at the University of Houston, Alex looked into the performance, cost, and ease of scale-up of YBCO thin film deposition on a tape substrate.
