The company plans to use the funds to expand its AI-powered platform, bring its geospatial technology to new markets, and strengthen its tools to help cities better manage public safety and infrastructure resources.

This investment supports Urban SDK’s fast growth in the public sector as it becomes a leader in its category. The platform helps more than 300 civic leaders across 40 states use data to manage resources more effectively and meet growing safety and infrastructure needs.

Urban SDK provides local and state governments with geospatial AI tools that help them make faster, more precise decisions. Its platform helps cities, states, and Departments of Transportation (DOTs) use limited public resources more effectively to serve and protect their communities. The technology supports everyday needs, such as managing citizen complaints and traffic enforcement, and also helps during emergencies by improving responses to natural disasters. Since cities often spend about 70% of their general budgets on public safety and community services, Urban SDK helps governments save resources and improve results by consolidating daily operations into a single platform.

“Our mission has always been to give government teams the tools they need to protect lives and manage public resources responsibly,” said Drew Messer, Co-founder and CEO of Urban SDK. “Today, hundreds of cities use Urban SDK to reduce traffic accidents and make smarter decisions—at about one-tenth the cost of traditional methods. Partnering with Riverwood Capital lets us scale our AI platform, helping governments and civic leaders build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities faster.”

“With this funding, we’re excited to keep expanding our AI platform as we grow in current and new markets,” said Justin Dennis, Co-founder and COO of Urban SDK. “As we work with more cities, agencies, and partners in 2026, we expect our technology to keep driving the future of smart cities across the U.S.”

“We were impressed by how powerful and easy-to-use Urban SDK’s platform is, and how quickly it delivers real impact for cities and public servants,” said Francisco Alvarez-Demalde, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Riverwood Capital. “Drew, Justin, and their team have built technology that makes advanced geospatial AI immediately usable for the people making decisions on the ground, which is why hundreds of cities have adopted it so quickly. We’re excited to partner with Urban SDK as they expand their system to more communities, helping city employees, residents, and leaders create safer, smarter, more resilient, and more cost-effective operations.” Riverwood will support the company’s growth plans, including the addition of Eric Ma to the board.

“Florida Opportunity Fund was created to support Florida companies that tackle real-world challenges at scale, and Urban SDK is a perfect example,” said Robert Harvey, President and Executive Director of the Florida Opportunity Fund. “By providing a system that delivers data-driven solutions for public safety and infrastructure, Urban SDK helps state and local governments work more efficiently and ensures communities nationwide have the resources they need to thrive.”
