With this deal, BriefCatch will enhance its professional writing tools by adding WordRake’s patented sentence level algorithms to its document-level legal analysis platform.
The deal helps BriefCatch further its goal of setting the standard for legal writing by combining WordRake’s trusted editing tools with BriefCatch’s expert analysis of structure, emphasis and persuasion. Both platforms are designed to support, not replace, attorney decision-making.
WordRake will continue to be fully supported for current customers, including use in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Existing licenses will be maintained, and the products will run separately for now, with a plan for future integration.
WordRake’s patented in-line editing technology helps writers cut unnecessary words, tighten their writing, and improve sentence clarity right within their workflow. Its emphasis on precise editing has made it popular in law firms and among professionals in business, government, and academia.
BriefCatch uses AI assisted analysis to help lawyers improve document structure, emphasis, and persuasive impact, grounded in proven legal writing principles. Adding WordRake’s patented technology further enhances BriefCatch’s editing and quality-control tools for important legal documents.
“As AI changes legal workflows, firms need tools that improve key skills without adding risk,” said Ross Guberman, founder and CEO of BriefCatch. “Adding WordRake’s trusted editing tools to BriefCatch supports our careful, lawyer-in-control approach—focused on the precision, judgment, and professionalism that are more important than ever.”
“WordRake has been trusted by legal and professional writers for over a decade, helping them write more clearly and concisely within the tools they already use,” said Scott Johns, CEO of WordRake. “BriefCatch shares our focus on practical, effective writing improvement, making it the right place for WordRake’s next chapter. Customers can expect the same product experience and continued support during the transition.” Johns will join BriefCatch as a Strategic Advisor.”
