The company plans to use the funds to speed up development of the Zodl wallet (formerly Zashi) and support the protocol so that Zcash becomes easier for people around the world to use.
ZODL now owns the Zashi wallet technology and related intellectual property. It aims to make Zcash easier to use by continuing to develop the wallet and supporting Zcash at the protocol level.
Earlier this year, the entire ECC team, including the wallet product team, joined Zcash Open Development Lab to keep building the main user interface for Zcash. Their work focuses on developing Zodl as an open, self-custodial private finance platform that supports ecosystem partnerships and helps bring shielded ZEC transactions to users around the world.
Zcash protocol development is still an important part of ZODL’s work. The engineers who designed and maintained Zcash’s key systems at ECC have joined ZODL and continue this work with the same dedication as before. The team focuses on making improvements that are practical and easy to use, helping Zcash better meet user needs and achieve strong product-market fit.
During his time at ECC, the team launched the main Zcash wallet, Zodl (formerly Zashi), which improved how easy Zcash is to use. Since its launch in 2024, the app has helped the Zcash shielded pool grow by more than 400% and has supported over $600 million in ZEC swaps since October 2025.
