Girl Beer Raises $5M in Funding

Girl Beer, a Los Angeles, CA-based light beer brand, has raised $5 million in a funding round led by Lakehouse Venture.

The round also saw participation from Spice Capital and others.

The company plans to use the funds to grow its operations and continue developing its technology.

The funding comes after a successful launch in California and fast expansion into the Southwest and Texas. The brand is working with major distributors, such as Anheuser-Busch and Molson Coors. In its first year, the brand also secured retail placements in national chains such as Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, and Whole Foods.

The company is continuing its national rollout, with plans to expand into new markets in the Midwest and Southeast. The brand is already in advanced talks with leading distributors and major retail chains in these regions. The investment will also help fund more viral marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness across the country.

Hurray’s GIRL BEER, a humor-driven flavored light beer brand aimed at the next generation of drinkers, has also expanded its core team with several key hires in sales, marketing, and operations. The company brought in BrightBev, founded by Molson Coors veteran Jeff Agase, to lead distributor expansion. It hired Matt Webster, former Vice President at Juneshine, to manage operations and production. Elisha Sevier, founder of Peaklign Partners and formerly with Red Bull and Walmart, joined to lead retail sales. The brand has also added former Liquid Death creatives to its team.

“Beer is one of the most untapped opportunities in the beverage industry for new brands. For the first time in history, most alcohol consumers under 30 are female,” said Ray Biebuyck, Founder and CEO of Hurray’s Girl Beer. “About 60% of these women say they don’t drink beer because there aren’t enough flavor options. This creates a big opportunity to make beer more fun and flavorful. After proving the concept in our home market in 2025, we’re excited to take the next step.”

“Beer is a $100+ billion industry, but it hasn’t seen much real innovation in the past decade,” said John Neamonitis, Founder and General Partner of Lakehouse Ventures, which has invested in consumer brands like Billie and Bobbie. “As an investor, it’s rare to see a market like this. When you combine that with a founder like Ray, who understands both culture and product, we believe there’s a strong opportunity to build something very special.”

In response to strong demand from retail chains, the company will launch seven new flavors in its flavored light beer lineup: Strawberry, Mango, Tangerine, Peach, Passionfruit Orange, Strawberry Watermelon, and Grapefruit Guava. Each beer has 95 calories, 4.2% ABV, and no added sugar, and will be available in both 6-packs and mixed variety 12-packs.

“We’ve been very fortunate to partner with leading distributors and retailers as we prepare for a major expansion in 2026,” Biebuyck said. “This is the year we establish the brand in several markets, using what we learned from our California launch to grow across the country.”

“Ray is a unique founder who combines the business discipline of an investment banker with the cultural insight of an art history major,” said Maya Bakhai, Founder and Managing Partner of Spice Capital and former investor for NBA player Kevin Durant, with portfolio companies including the sunscreen brand Vacation. “You can see it in the product—it really stands out. Ray recognized what the broader beer industry missed: the next generation of drinkers wants flavor, fun, and brands that reflect culture. We’re excited to continue supporting the company as it expands nationwide and builds a broader beverage brand platform.”
