The company plans to use the funds to grow its operations and development.
Mind Robotics is creating a leading industrial robotics platform that can handle complex, dexterous, and reasoning-based tasks. The company was founded to solve a gap in current automation solutions. Traditional industrial robots can handle repeatable, precise tasks, but much factory work needs human-like dexterity, adaptability, and reasoning—something classical robots can’t do. Mind Robotics is building the AI, hardware, and infrastructure needed to fill this gap.
Mind Robotics, founded and led by Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe, works closely with Rivian, a partner and major shareholder. This gives Mind Robotics access to extensive production data and a real-world environment to train and test its models. Its development also benefits from Rivian’s engineering expertise and large-scale manufacturing experience.
“As AI moves into the physical world, we see the biggest impact for advanced robotics in industry,” said RJ Scaringe. “Advanced robots will be key for global competitiveness and solving today’s industrial labor shortages. We’re building robots to perform real tasks in real plants at scale. I’m grateful for partners who share our vision at Mind Robotics and look forward to welcoming Sameer to our board.”
“We invest in strong leaders, and this team proves it,” said Sameer Gandhi, partner at Accel. “They built one of the most ambitious manufacturing operations in the EV industry. That level of execution comes from the quality of the team. RJ is a disciplined, visionary leader, and we believe AI industrial robotics is one of the most exciting technological shifts today.”
“RJ is one of the few founders who has built and scaled a fully integrated hardware company,” said Sarah Wang, General Partner at a16z. “At Rivian, he designed the full stack—vehicles, electronics, batteries, software, manufacturing, and supply chains—linking every layer into a seamless system. That end-to-end expertise is exactly what’s needed to build a next-generation robotics company, which is why we’re excited to support RJ and the Mind Robotics team.”
