The company plans to use the funds to grow its team and speed up product development to meet rising demand for its AI-powered logistics automation.
BackOps is the world’s first AI-native operating system for supply chain operations. Its platform uses AI to convert communications—such as emails, messages, and service tickets—into automated supply chain workflows.
The company currently offers two main products:
AI Process Centre captures institutional knowledge by tracking how employees complete logistics tasks, spotting inefficiencies, and turning those processes into automated actions.
Relay, BackOps’ automation engine, runs continuously across communication channels to detect, and resolve issues automatically, such as filing carrier claims, starting reshipments, answering customer questions, and gathering documents. When human help is needed, Relay provides full context and suggests next steps to resolve the issue faster.
BackOps customers include companies across many industries, such as a major global automaker, one of the world’s largest retailers, leading grocery chains, and major U.S. machinery suppliers.
BackOps, the world’s first AI-native operating system for supply chain operations, reduces customer response times by 93% and automatically files all eligible carrier claims.
Behind every delivery—from groceries and pharmaceuticals to auto parts—is a large network of carriers, warehouses, vendors, and customer service teams handling thousands of issues each day. Supply chains include many connected steps, often involving 40–60 processes across different vendors and software systems. Yet many logistics teams still rely on separate tools and manual work to track shipments, answer customer questions, and file claims. BackOps connects these parts into one system that can predict problems and resolve issues automatically.
Customers say BackOps automatically files 100% of eligible carrier claims and has improved operations, saving logistics teams up to 60% of their time and speeding up customer response times by 93%.
“Supply chains are very complex, with many vendors, tools, and processes involved in every shipment,” said Sean McCarthy, co-founder and CEO of BackOps. “Companies need systems that do more than just track problems—they need help solving them. We built BackOps to connect these parts and automate work that logistics teams used to do manually. As a result, teams save time and can focus more on delivering great customer service. This is just the start of how we plan to improve supply chain operations.”
“Supply chains are the backbone of the global economy, but much of the work behind them is still manual,” said Tomasz Tunguz, General Partner at Theory Ventures. “BackOps is building an intelligent operating layer for logistics. By applying AI to supply chain operations, the company can help businesses move goods more efficiently. We’re excited to support a team that understands these challenges and is using AI to improve logistics operations.”
