Boston-based knownwell secures $20m in series A round funding. A16Z led the round, which raised the total amount of capital to $24.5 million. Participating investors included Flare Capital Partners.
The company strategies to use the funds to expand its network of clinics and telehealth services, to focus more on developing new products, such as integrating AI-powered tools for asynchronous communication, patient stratification, and workflow enablement for suppliers into its care model, and to collaborate on clinical trials with big pharma companies.

This demonstrates the growing need for weight-inclusive care providers that go beyond GLP-1 utilisation organisations and concentrate on whole-person treatment approaches to obesity.
A holistic, clinical approach to identifying and treating the underlying cause of early obesity, including nutritional counselling and behavioural health services, is the foundation of knownwell, which was founded by Brooke Boyarsky Pratt, a lifelong obese person, and Dr. Angela Fitch, President of the Obesity Medicine Association. This approach differs from the diet-promoting, stigmatising path that is typically used for individuals between the ages of 12 and 18.

With the latest funding, knownwell is expanding their enterprise solution by partnering with health systems, payors, and employers in addition to working with patients to provide weight-inclusive treatment through telehealth and the company’s physically clinics.
