
Akkio, a company that provides AI infrastructure for media organizations, has appointed Christian Juhl to its board of directors.
Christian Juhl, the former global CEO of GroupM, brings decades of leadership experience in media, data-driven marketing, business transformation, and technology-led growth to Akkio’s board.
The appointment of Christian Juhl is an important step for Akkio as it expands the use of agentic AI workflows across major media companies.
His arrival comes as more companies adopt Akkio’s platform, which runs within media companies’ own cloud environments. Customers already include leading organizations such as Horizon Media and LG Ad Solutions.

Christian Juhl served as global CEO of GroupM from 2019 to 2024, leading a team of 35,000 employees, and overseeing more than $60 billion in annual media spending. During his tenure, the company increased annual net sales by $1 billion, achieved 25% cumulative growth and secured major client partnerships, including The Coca-Cola Company.
Before GroupM, Juhl was the global CEO of Essence, where he helped grow the business more than fivefold and earned recognition as Adweek’s Breakthrough Media Agency of the Year. Earlier in his career, he spent 14 years at Razorfish and also held leadership positions at Publicis.
"I've spent my career watching the industry wrestle with fragmented data, disconnected systems and tools that were built for individual agencies rather than the ecosystem as a whole," said Christian Juhl.
