Venrock led the round, in which various angel investors, Hitachi Ventures, Buckley Ventures, Plug & Play Ventures, and Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund also participated. In addition to the funding, Venrock partner Ganesh Srinivasan will join the board.
After coming out of stealth, Archetype AI—co-founded by Ivan Poupyrev, Brandon Barbello, Leonardo Giusti, Jaime Lien, and Nicholas Gillian—unveiled NewtonTM, a foundation model that comprehends the physical world.

In order to provide real-time insights into the physical world, Newton mixes multimodal temporal data—such as signals from accelerometers, gyroscopes, radars, cameras, microphones, thermometers, and other environmental sensors—with spoken language.
