Broadcom Appoints Amie Thuener as New CFO

U.S. chip company Broadcom has named Amie Thuener from Alphabet as its new CFO, starting June 12, when current CFO Kirsten Spears retires.

Thuener is currently Alphabet’s vice president, corporate controller, and chief accounting officer. She previously worked as a managing director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she handled transaction and accounting advisory services.

Spears, who has been Broadcom’s CFO since late 2020, will stay on as an advisor for nine months after retiring to ensure a smooth transition. During her time, the company completed its $69 billion acquisition of VMware in 2023.

Broadcom is a major semiconductor and software company that typically works with clients such as Google and OpenAI to develop custom AI chips rather than building them entirely in-house.

The company expects its AI chip revenue to exceed $100 billion next year due to strong demand, but it is also facing supply chain challenges across the tech industry.

“She (Amie) brings strong experience in financial reporting, corporate governance, AI-related deals, and managing large global organizations,” said Broadcom CEO Hock Tan.
