California-Based Superhuman Acquires AI Startup Fathom

Superhuman, an AI productivity platform, has acquired Fathom, an AI meeting tool used by hundreds of thousands of companies to record, search, and act on meeting discussions.

SUMMARY

  • Superhuman acquired AI meeting platform Fathom.
  • Fathom’s AI note-taking will be added to Superhuman’s tools.
  • The deal will help turn meeting discussions into useful work.

Superhuman plans to add Fathom’s AI note-taking technology to its apps and AI agents, including email, calendar, documents, and databases.

The meeting technology will also support Superhuman Go, the company’s AI assistant that works across more than 1 million apps and websites. The integration is expected to help Go and its AI agents provide more useful and relevant assistance.

Meetings take up a large part of the workweek for many knowledge workers. However, important discussions and decisions often remain in recordings, personal notes, or separate summaries instead of being connected to the tools people use to continue their work.

AI note-taking tools have made it easier to record and summarize meetings. But many of these tools are still separate from other work systems. Their notes and action items often need to be manually moved into other tools before teams or AI agents can use them.

AI meeting tools like Fathom can do more than record and summarize meetings. They can help teams search past conversations, understand customer feedback, spot trends, and give AI agents more context to take action.

By bringing Fathom into its suite, Superhuman plans to connect meeting insights with emails, calendars, documents, and workflows, making work information easier for people and AI agents to use.

For example, a Go AI agent could review a team meeting transcript, prepare status updates for a project tracker in Superhuman Docs, and alert the project manager to review them before they are added. This would help turn meeting notes and action items into useful follow-up work instead of leaving them in separate tools.

Fathom brings Superhuman an established meeting intelligence platform and an experienced team. Its technology supports meeting recording without bots, live summaries, and integrations that connect meeting insights with CRMs, AI agents, and other workflows.

“Superhuman users have been asking for an integrated notetaker for a long time,” said Shishir Mehrotra, CEO of Superhuman. “Meeting notes are one of the clearest, most valuable places where AI can help, and it’s one of the categories I’ve spent the most time with.

“The vast knowledge in your company is spoken, not written; it lives in meetings, calls, and conversations,” said Richard White, Founder and CEO of Fathom. “We built Fathom to capture that knowledge as it happens, with highest quality transcripts and summaries also available bot-free.
