Critical Loop Raises $26M in Series A Funding

Apr 14, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Critical Loop, a Los Angeles, CA-based industrial power solutions company, has raised $26 million in a Series A funding round led by Conifer Infrastructure Partners and Hanover.

The round also saw participation from Better Ventures, Climate Capital, Adapt Nation Capital, and Cyrus Ventures. The raise brought the total amount to $49 Million.

The company plans to use the funds to speed up its work with partners, including San Diego International Airport, supported by a supply agreement for U.S.-made batteries with LG Energy Solution Vertech.

Critical Loop’s CLB-5100 is a scalable, integrated 1 MW battery system that can connect to on-site power, the existing grid, and other distributed energy sources. It can also be moved to areas with limited grid capacity, helping utilities connect customers while long-term upgrades are completed. While AI data centers have increased power demand, they are only part of the broader growth in electricity use. The CLB-5100 was designed to support this wider demand as utilities prepare for the next phase of industrial and digital expansion.

Recent milestones for Critical Loop include winning a competitive bid to optimize on-site solar and battery systems for an 11 MW load at San Diego International Airport, the busiest single-runway airport in the U.S. The company also kept Cover’s manufacturing facility running for 8 months during a utility outage, helped Terawatt Infrastructure secure over 4 MW of additional capacity for 2 EV charging sites in just months instead of years, and quickly deployed 2 hybrid microgrids at Mojave test sites within days of notice.

In addition, Critical Loop signed a supply agreement with LG Energy Solution Vertech for U.S.-made batteries, received support from the California Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Program, and was recognized by the California Public Utilities Commission in a February 2026 rulemaking. This decision directs SCE and PG&E to offer new, flexible service options to customers facing grid limitations.

Across the United States, businesses and utilities often wait years for grid upgrades before they can connect or expand. Critical Loop shortens this timeline to days or weeks by combining flexible connections with microgrids. The company brings together battery storage, power generation, and its Cygnus software-based controller into one easy-to-deploy system.

"In just a couple of years, we've built a software and hardware stack that has the potential to accelerate time to power from years to days, and with this team, we believe we can keep doing things that were previously considered impossible," said Bala Ramamurthy, Co-Founder and CEO, Critical Loop. "The caliber of people we have attracted makes me confident about what we'll build next."

“Grid connection delays are slowing industrial growth and current solutions are often too slow and inflexible to meet today’s needs,” said Nick Stork, Founder and Managing Partner at Conifer Infrastructure Partners. “Critical Loop is working on timelines that match what customers actually face, delivering fast, practical solutions while also creating long term value. The team has proven it can deliver.”

“Advances similar to Moore’s Law are now impacting the energy sector, with major implications for the U.S.,” said Joe Malchow, Founder and General Partner at HNVR Technology Investment Management. “After years of work on technologies like gallium nitride and lithium-ion batteries, we are now bringing a complete power system to energy-intensive businesses and grid operators. Critical Loop’s CLB-5100 helps deliver power faster, lowers costs, strengthens grid reliability, and supports business growth. This is a key step toward a new industrial revolution, and I’m proud of the team delivering it with speed and quality.”

"The industrial real estate market in Northern California runs on timelines that cannot afford to sit idle for years," said Greg Matter, Vice Chairman, Head of Advanced Manufacturing, JLL. "When Critical Loop can get a facility connected in weeks or months, that changes what developers and tenants can commit to."
