Handspring Health Raises $19M in Series B Funding Round

Jul 9, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Handspring Health, a NYC-based company that specializes in a virtual mental health clinic providing evidence-based care to youth, has raised $19 million in a Seed funding round led by RPS Ventures.

The round also saw participation from new investor Angelini Ventures and continued backing from returning investors Cobalt Ventures, NextView Ventures, nvp capital, Hyde Park Angels (HPA), Cornucopian Capital, and others.

The company will use the funding to grow its clinical team, expand its care model, strengthen value-based care partnerships, broaden its geographic reach, enhance its Complex Care program, and continue developing its technology platform.

Handspring believes great mental healthcare starts with supporting its clinicians. Instead of using contractors, the company employs its therapists full time and provides in-house training in evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and exposure therapy. Therapists also receive ongoing coaching, clinical support, and regular consultation to help deliver high-quality care.

This approach allows Handspring to care for children and teens with a wide range of mental health needs without turning them away as their conditions change. Through its Complex Care program, the company also supports high-risk youth who are often underserved or referred to emergency departments or intensive outpatient programs.

Handspring's care model is supported by an AI-powered technology platform that includes custom patient and provider portals, a proprietary telehealth system, an in-house AI clinical scribe, and an AI-based therapist matching tool that connects families with the right therapist from the start. This technology reduces administrative work for clinicians and provides a smoother, more convenient experience for families.

"Our technology buildout has focused on making high-quality care easier to deliver, scale, and measure. We've built a software-enabled care platform that supports the full patient journey and spans everything our families and clinicians touch," said Kwasi Kyei, co-founder and president of Handspring. "This infrastructure is what will let us scale this level of care to far more families without losing what makes it work."

"Good therapy depends on the therapist, so we built the company around supporting ours, with training, supervision, and regular clinical consultation, instead of just matching families to whoever is available," said Sahil Choudhry, CEO and co-founder of Handspring. "That's what lets us care for a child whether their needs are mild or severe. This round lets us bring that model to many more families."
