The new funding will help inKind grow in underserved markets, support more independent restaurants and emerging chains, and expand its platform to reach 10,000 more U.S. restaurants over the next year. It will also be used to develop new technologies for restaurant owners, including expanded financial products such as growth funding, equipment financing, and improved access to debt.
In addition, inKind will improve and expand its in-app dining experience for its fast-growing subscriber base of millions of users.
inKind is a leading restaurant technology platform that helps restaurants grow and manage their business. It has become the largest platform of its kind by offering restaurants funding that pays for itself. Instead of giving up equity or taking on debt, restaurants provide food and drink credits in exchange for funding. Diners use these credits through the inKind app at partner restaurants and receive 20% back in rewards.
So far, inKind has provided more than $600 million in funding to a wide range of restaurant partners. These include well-known groups such as José Andrés Group, MINA Group, and Ethan Stowell Restaurants, as well as independent restaurants such as Okàn, Kann, and Superiority Burger. Its partners also include 20 Michelin-starred restaurants and 50 James Beard Award nominees.
Known for connecting thousands of top restaurants with more than 4 million customers, inKind raised funds from several well-known investors and companies. These include Matt Hulsizer and Jenny Just of Peak6, Sarosh Mistry, former CEO of Sodexo U.S., and Vasanth Williams of Condé Nast, among others.

The news reflects inKind’s strong growth, with gross order volume more than doubling each year for four straight years (2020–2024). The company is on track to exceed $350 million in 2025. So far, inKind has given users more than $175 million in dining rewards and continues to add hundreds of thousands of new users every month.
“Restaurants are at the center of our communities, and they need partners who understand what it takes to succeed,” said Johann Moonesinghe, CEO and co-founder of inKind. “Traditional financing can take away equity, hurt cash flow, and limit long-term growth. We started inKind to offer a better, more sustainable way to fund restaurants without those burdens. Our model helps owners protect their cash flow, access capital quickly and build stronger businesses. With the support of our funding partners, we can now expand these efforts to up to 10,000 more restaurants. We’re proud to support thousands of locally owned restaurants across the country not just with funding, but as true partners in their success.”
Sam Bakhshandehpour, CEO of José Andrés Group, whose team has used inKind’s solutions across several restaurants and funding rounds, said, “inKind truly understands what it takes to run a restaurant. They move at our speed because they know from experience what works in hospitality. Traditional lenders focus on spreadsheets, but inKind understands the long hours, tight margins, and passion behind our business. Their capital isn’t just funding — it gives us the freedom to invest in our team and improve what we do. Johann genuinely cares about restaurants and has built something great for diners and game-changing for operators.”
inKind was founded by Moonesinghe, his late brother Rajan Moonesinghe, his husband Andrew Harris, and Marcus Triest. They created it to offer restaurants a more supportive funding option, based on the challenges they experienced as restaurant owners and investors. After investing in more than 30 restaurants and owning several themselves — including The Guest House in Austin and Las Vegas, Etta in Scottsdale, and Ember Kitchen in Austin — Moonesinghe and Harris built inKind to use the power of regular diners to support local restaurants in a way that benefits everyone.
