Miter will use the new funding to expand its product development and operations.

The company plans to significantly grow its engineering teams in San Francisco and New York and add more go-to-market employees across the U.S.

Miter is also expanding its products for construction companies across areas including safety, accounts payable, project intelligence, field operations, payroll, HR, and expense management.

Who founded Miter?

Miter was founded in 2021 by Connor Watumull.

The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California, with engineering teams in San Francisco and New York.

"The U.S. has never needed this much new infrastructure this fast. We need to unleash the potential of electricians, welders, carpenters and ironworkers everywhere," said Connor Watumull, who co-founded Miter with Tobin Paxton and serves as CEO.

"The construction industry is tremendously complex, which has made it difficult for technology providers to develop robust tools attuned to customers' specific demands, despite the large potential market," said Michael Brown, a Battery Ventures general partner. "But Connor, Tobin and their team have succeeded in developing an easy-to-use, integrated product that delivers payroll as well as other mission-critical business functions.

Market and Business Growth

Miter's platform is used by more than 2,000 contractors, ranging from ENR Top 20 builders to family-owned specialty contractors.

The company says roughly two out of every 100 American construction workers are now paid through Miter. Contractors use the platform across hundreds of thousands of active jobs each month.

Miter has also expanded its AI capabilities. Its technology can structure information from invoices, receipts, and pay rate tables, automate complex workflows, identify labor and job cost trends, create safety reports from photos or voice notes, and summarize job status.
