Rip-Tie on Shark Tank USA Season 17

Rip Tie Tangle-Free Hair Ties are designed for those who refuse to compromise between style and function. These innovative hair accessories feature a patented tangle-free design that prevents the knots and snags common with traditional hair ties.

The brand was founded by Sarah Fox, who spent hours detangling her hair and trying to prevent damage from salty water while living in Guam, working as a scuba diver and passionate surfer. Determined to find a better solution, she began experimenting with different materials and designs, ultimately creating the Rip Tie Tangle-Free Hair Ties. After receiving positive feedback from friends, Sarah officially launched the product in May 2022.

Since then, more than 500,000 Rip Ties have been sold, gaining loyal users among horseback riders, cyclists, and scuba divers. The brand sells a variety of products directly through its website, including five-pack multicolor sets at $31.50 and several three-pack options—Multicolor, Freedom Trail, and Neutrals—at $21.

When Rip Tie appeared on Shark Tank, Sarah initially asked for $250,000 in exchange for 10% equity. She ultimately secured a deal from Lori Greiner and Allison O’Toole: $250,000 for 20% equity.

Rip Tie demonstrates how a simple, functional idea can transform everyday hair care while appealing to a wide range of active lifestyles.
