Appfire has acquired one of the fastest-growing apps on the Atlassian Marketplace, JXL, the all-in-one Jira issue editor and organizer. JXL performs at any scale to save users countless clicks and hours.
With this announcement, Appfire has also welcomed Daniel and Hannes, two individuals who have shown a love for creating software that facilitates people in completing their tasks. Their goals are in line with Appfire’s, which is to empower and unite every team to plan and execute their best work. They also bring with them a combined 15 years of Atlassian team leadership experience, which has given them a tremendous understanding of Jira and the most pressing demands of its users.

“We are so excited to bring Daniel and Hannes — both innovative, accomplished founders with deep roots in the Atlassian ecosystem — to our team,” says Appfire Co-Founder and CEO Randall Ward. “Together they’ve built a highly successful, essential app that enhances the power of Jira for a wide range of users. We’re thrilled to offer an easier, faster Jira to Appfire’s customers and partners and to achieve even more with Daniel and Hannes on board.”
JXL, launched in 2020 by former Atlassian employees Daniel Franz and Hannes Obweger, combines the functionality of Jira with the ease of use and familiarity of spreadsheets. Users can copy and paste fields individually or in bulk, arrange and organize issues in custom hierarchies, and inline edit issues in highly customisable table views (including for Jira Standard edition customers).

“We are already changing how Jira can be used by millions of people each day, and bringing JXL to Appfire will only accelerate that reach,” says Franz. “We’re ready to continue focusing on what we do best — designing and developing apps that facilitate collaboration and are accessible to everyone.”
