Tech Startup Left Field on Shark Tank USA Season 17

Left Field, a dating application founded by Samantha Martin and Kate Sieler, launched in September 2024. Following the initial release, Samantha and Kate continued engaging with users to expand the range of their location-based notifications, refining the app’s experience.

Their vision began to take shape in New York, where the app made its public debut on the App Store in February 2025. Rather than relying solely on digital advertising, the founders immersed themselves in the local scene, partnering with neighborhood bars and comedy events to introduce Left Field in places where connections naturally occur.

By May 2025, they also launched several ambassador programs for college students to further expand their user base. Users can easily download the app and enter their basic details, just like with any other dating app.

Samantha and Kate initially sought $200,000 for a 5% stake in the company. They ultimately secured a deal with Kendra and Alexis, receiving $200,000 for 8% equity plus 4% in advisory shares, providing the resources to scale Left Field further.

About Left Field

Left Field is a modern dating company that helps people meet naturally in real life, without endless swiping. Started in New York City in 2025 by Samantha Martin and Kate Sieler, the Left Field app uses location and AI technology to let users know when a good match is nearby. This makes it easier for people to meet in person as they go about their daily lives. Instead of swiping, the app suggests matches when users are close to each other or cross paths, making dating feel more natural and easy.

The “Missed Connections” feature helps users find people they were near but didn’t get a chance to meet, while privacy is maintained by only showing nearby users. Left Field is a simple and refreshing alternative to traditional dating apps, designed to make dating less stressful and more genuine.
