Turkey-based Getir Completes Acquisition of FreshDirect. a NYC-based online grocery company, from Ahold Delhaize, a US food retail group.
The deal’s total value was not made publicly. Getir and FreshDirect will experience substantial synergies as a result of this acquisition. The technology infrastructure of FreshDirect will be improved by Getir’s capabilities.

Getir’s agile strategy will allow FreshDirect customers to receive their items more quickly. Getir will grow its rapid delivery operation in the US more quickly because to FreshDirect’s broad product line and large client base.

FreshDirect, an online grocery firm with a 650 million dollar annual turnover and 3000 workers, has been at the forefront of online food shopping for more than 20 years. FreshDirect focuses on the scheduled delivery of orders to homes or workplaces at certain hours of the day, in contrast to Getir.

FreshDirect offers services to New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut from a 60,000-square-meter manufacturing and distribution centre in New York, which is staffed by a fleet of 400 trucks.
