Growth Catalyst Group Appoints Maia Benson as Chief Commercial Officer

May 16, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Growth Catalyst Group of Companies (GCG), a global supply chain technology investor and leader, has appointed Maia Benson as Chief Commercial Officer. She brings over 20 years of experience in scaling SaaS and logistics businesses, and will lead the company’s go to market strategy and growth initiatives.

Benson is widely known for her impact at Shopify, where she was one of the first U.S. employees and helped build the company’s shipping and fulfilment business to billions in shipping volume. She also helped create the Shopify Fulfilment Network and played a role in investments and acquisitions, including Six River Systems and Global-e.

More recently, she served as Chief Business Officer at FlavorCloud, where she supported growth for global brands through a SaaS platform focused on logistics and compliance. Earlier in her career, she led Pitney Bowes’ SendPro product, a SaaS multi-carrier shipping application, which sparked her interest in ecommerce and logistics.

In her new role, Maia Benson will lead the commercial strategy across Growth Catalyst Group of Companies’ portfolio. This includes supply chain advisory, technology platforms, command center operations and omnichannel fulfilment for B2B, and DTC brands, supporting both marketing execution and product replenishment for retail stores.

On the role of AI in logistics, Maia Benson said that AI is already a basic requirement in the industry. Companies are using it to automate high-volume tasks like customer support, carrier invoice checks, and exception handling, and are now expanding into more advanced predictive and decision-making use cases. She added that companies that adopt AI early and learn to use it effectively will have a strong competitive advantage.

"We have built a lot over the last 10 years, and Maia is exactly the kind of operator-entrepreneur, industry expert, and technology leader GCG needed as we scale our business to create higher value for more clients," said Manish Kapoor, Founder and CEO of GCG. "Her track record of building category-defining businesses in logistics and her deep conviction in the power of end-to-end supply chain thinking make her the ideal leader for this moment."

Bensons appointment comes at a pivotal moment for global commerce. "The forces reshaping supply chain right now are unprecedented," Benson noted. "Geopolitical fragmentation is retreating globalism, AI is re platforming every corner of the economy, and higher for longer interest rates continue to pressure cost structures. Together these forces are compressing planning horizons, and rewarding companies that can quickly redesign supply chains. GCG is uniquely positioned to be that partner."

"Two things drew me to GCG," said Benson. "First, the leadership team has exactly the entrepreneurial mindset required to rebuild our go-to-market engine as we accelerate our growth engine with AI. Second, supply chain is fundamentally a systems problem, and few companies in the world are like GCG that see it at the 14,000-foot level through our advisory practice and while also operating every day on the ground in our 14-node, tech-enabled North American warehouse network. This breadth makes us better in every part of the supply chain value chain."
