IMPaCT Care Welcomes Michael Monson as Strategic Advisor
Jun 23, 2026 | By Startuprise io

IMPaCT Care, a company specializing in community health worker (CHW) programs, has appointed Michael Monson to its Advisory Board.
As healthcare organizations face increasing cost pressures and shortages of clinical staff, many health plans and health systems are turning to community health workers (CHWs) to improve care delivery. As a result, the number of organizations employing CHWs has grown significantly in recent years.
Evidence-based CHW programs can achieve higher patient engagement at a much lower cost than traditional clinical care management programs. However, many organizations struggle to scale these programs due to limited standardization, inadequate technology and challenges in measuring outcomes.

IMPaCT Care addresses these challenges through its CHW operating system, which provides healthcare organizations with the tools, technology, and expertise needed to launch, manage, and expand evidence-based CHW programs. The platform is backed by three randomized controlled trials that demonstrated meaningful improvements in health outcomes, care quality, and healthcare utilization.
Monson joins IMPaCT Care at a time when the company is expanding its reach through new national agreements with leading health plans and healthcare systems. His appointment reflects the growing demand for community health worker programs as healthcare organizations look for effective ways to improve patient outcomes.
Monson said IMPaCT Care is helping healthcare providers meet patients where they are and empowering community health workers to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. He noted that community health workers are one of the few social determinants of health solutions with a proven track record of success and described IMPaCT Care as a leader in the field.
Most recently, Monson served as President, CEO, and Board Trustee of Altarum. Before that, he led Centene’s Medicaid business, social determinants of health (SDOH) strategy, and the Centene Center for Health Transformation. He also held leadership roles at Village Care of New York, where he managed residential services and oversaw a $60 million business unit within a larger integrated healthcare system.
Earlier in his career, Monson worked at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York and spent six years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
“Michael is one of the most respected voices in healthcare with decades of experience operationalizing and scaling programs for older adults, people with disabilities, and populations left behind by the healthcare system, and we are thrilled to have him in our corner,” said Shreya Kangovi, Founder & CEO of IMPaCT Care. “His experience across organizations ranging from Fortune 50 companies to nonprofits will be invaluable as we scale our model nationally and deepen our partnerships with payers and health systems.”
Monson's appointment comes as IMPaCT Care continues to sign national contracts with leading health plans and systems. “IMPaCT Care is doing exactly what the healthcare system needs more of: meeting consumers where they are and enabling community health workers to improve people’s health and lives,” said Monson. “I’ve spent my career identifying and scaling solutions to serve complex, underserved populations. Community health workers are the only Social Determinants of Health solution that has repeatedly been demonstrated to work, and IMPaCT Care is the clear leader in this space.”
