MD-based ION Storage Systems Secures an Investment from Nova by Saint-Gobain. The deal’s total value was not made public. The company plans to use the money to develop faster, increase operations, and continue to innovate in vital battery technologies.

Under the direction of CEO Ricky Hanna, ION provides an adaptable solid-state battery solution for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, defence and aerospace, and grid storage, among other applications.

Its proprietary solid-state lithium metal technology can provide a battery with a novel 3-D ceramic structure and variable architecture without the use of cobalt, nickel, or other less sustainable minerals.

By utilising a ceramic cell architecture that facilitates the use of both current and cathode chemistries, ION promotes recycling and circularity while avoiding the problems and difficulties associated with mining and refining rare earth metals.
