Lassie Raises $35M in Series A Funding Led by Andreessen Horowitz

Jun 4, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Lassie, a San Francisco, CA-based company building autonomous systems for small businesses, has raised $35 million in a Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

The round also saw participation from Night Capital, Rahul Vohra, founder and former CEO of Superhuman; Zach Perret, co-founder and CEO of Plaid; Taavet Hinrikus, co-founder and former CEO of Wise; Gokul Rajaram; and Brian Balfour, co-founder and CEO of Reforge.

Alex Rampell, co-founder of Affirm and general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, will join Lassie’s Board of Directors. The company has also added Ed Zuckerberg and Jason Warnick as advisors.

The company plans to use the funding to grow its operations and accelerate product development. With this funding round, Lassie’s total funding raised to date has reached $47 million.

Today, Lassies AI agent helps medical practices manage insurance payments automatically. It logs into insurance portals, collects reimbursement information, matches it with practice records, updates the main system and confirms that payments have been received in the bank.

The platform is used by more than 700 practices across 49 states and currently saves business owners over 250,000 hours of administrative work each year.

AI is already capable of many advanced tasks, from writing software to generating videos. However, one of its biggest opportunities is helping small business owners reduce the time they spend on administrative work. Traditional software has often shifted this work around rather than eliminating it. AI can now understand complex information, work across different systems, and automate many of these tasks on behalf of business owners.

This need is especially clear in healthcare practices, one of the largest categories of small businesses. Many medical offices spend more than 100 hours each month on administrative tasks and often spend around $200,000 per year on support staff, which can be difficult to hire and retain. AI has the potential to reduce this burden and improve efficiency significantly.

"Small business owners should be freed up from doing busywork, so they can focus on what they are passionate about," said Steijn Pelle, CEO and co-founder of Lassie. "After watching 700 businesses rely on Lassie to do a big part of their administration, I am convinced that the future is bright. They now use the time we save them to grow the business and spend more time with customers. And we are just getting started!”

“I am thrilled to partner with Steijn, Frédéric, and the team as they build towards one of the most important shifts in software: from tools that help businesses operate to agents that do the work,” said Alex Rampell, co-founder of Affirm and General Partner at a16z. “We think businesses will soon run themselves, and Lassie is the perfect example that this is not a pipe dream. They are already making this a reality, providing many businesses with tens of hours of labor each month, and allowing business owners to focus on what they love doing, not busywork.”

“Before Lassie, I was drowning in paperwork where insurance companies would send me payments, and I’d have to spend hours after seeing patients to enter hundreds of patients and thousands of procedure codes manually,” said Dr. Eric Kwon, founder of Grace Dental. “Now, Lassie saves us over 100 hours a month and payments that used to take four to five weeks hit our account in less than a week. Most importantly, Lassie has given me time back to focus on my patients, grow my practice, and spend time with my family.”
