Securitize Announces Strategic Partnership with Socios.com

Securitize Corp and Socios.com have announced a strategic partnership to develop regulated tokenized equity offering's linked to minority ownership in professional sports teams.

SUMMARY

  • Securitize partnered with Socios.com on tokenized sports equity.
  • The partnership will help clubs raise new capital.
  • Investors can access minority sports team ownership.

Under the partnership, the companies will work with sports teams, existing owners, and institutional investors to structure and tokenize minority equity interests under the Socios Equity Token brand.

The offerings will be developed in line with applicable securities laws, league rules, club approvals, and local regulations. The partnership aims to create new ways for investors to access minority interests in professional sports teams.

The two companies will work together to build regulated investment infrastructure for tokenized sports club equity. Socios.com will manage relationships with sports organisations and develop the fan-focused engagement platform.

Securitize will handle the regulated issuance of securities, investor onboarding, ownership records, transfer controls, and ongoing services through its regulated affiliates.

The project is expected to be the first tokenization initiative launched through Securitize’s fully authorised European Trading & Settlement System under the EU DLT Pilot Regime. It will use the company’s regulated infrastructure across Europe and the United States.

Professional sports teams are estimated to have a combined global value of around $500 billion, but most team ownership remains private, making minority ownership difficult to access or trade. Socios Equity Tokens aim to bring part of this value onchain through regulated infrastructure, making it easier for teams, owners and eligible investors to access and trade these interests.

By combining fan engagement with regulated tokenized equity, the partnership aims to serve both fans and investors. Eligible fans could gain a deeper financial connection with the teams they support, while institutional and private equity investors could gain access to sports as a high value alternative asset class.

"For years, Socios.com has helped teams create more direct digital relationships with their supporters," said Alexandre Dreyfus, Founder and CEO of The Chiliz Group and Socios.com. "Our partnership with Securitize allows us to explore the next stage of that evolution through regulated tokenized equity, combining our sports network with the infrastructure needed to bring these opportunities to eligible investors."

"Professional sports teams represent a significant asset class that has remained largely private and difficult to access," said Carlos Domingo, Co-Founder and CEO of Securitize. "Securitize's regulated infrastructure in the United States and Europe can provide teams and their owners with a new way to issue and administer equity while preserving the investor protections and ownership rights that should come with a regulated security."
