Why the Funding Matters

Skoka will use the capital to prepare for regulatory requirements, increase manufacturing capacity, and expand its team.

The company has committed $15 million to its Premarket Tobacco Product Application (PMTA) programme. It submitted its bundled PMTA to the FDA on October 1. Its regulatory package includes three completed pharmacokinetic studies and research covering product stability, toxicology, actual use, and label comprehension.

Skoka's regulatory team has previously supported more than 200 products through the PMTA process. However, the company's products still require FDA review and marketing authorisation.

Who founded Skoka?

Skoka was founded by Dan Aziz. The company is based in Austin, Texas.

Aziz's experience with nicotine pouches and conversations with friends in professional sports helped inspire the business. He wanted to develop products with clearly defined ingredients and named the company after Lake Muskoka in Ontario, Canada.

“We had the opportunity to go to retail last year. We turned it down,” Aziz said. “We built this company science first. We developed a differentiated base formula using ingredients not traditionally found in nicotine pouches, and then we invested in a comprehensive bundled PMTA before going to market.

“I have been a long-time nicotine and tobacco user and tried most pouches in the market, after my first time being introduced to Skoka, I knew I wanted to be a part of it,” said Anthony Kim.

Market and Business Growth

Skoka introduced its brand to retailers, distributors, and buyers at the NACS Show in Las Vegas in October 2026.

The company is also the exclusive nicotine pouch partner of Authentic Live. Its products are made in the United States, and it has filed two patent applications covering its formulations and ingredient combinations.

What Happens Next?

Skoka plans to continue its regulatory preparation, scale manufacturing, and grow its team. Its next steps also include preparing for future commercialisation, subject to FDA review and marketing authorisation.
