Why the Funding Matters

Subeca will use the new funding to expand its operations and product development efforts.

The investment will also support the company’s efforts to make smart metering technology more accessible and strengthen its relationships across the water technology and utility sectors.

Who founded Subeca?

Subeca was founded in 2016 by Hank McCarrick. The company is headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, where its communication module is produced.

This funding fuels our rapid growth and our commitment to bringing real-time meter data to small and medium-sized utilities and hyperscalers, because every water provider deserves the tools to serve its customers and meet its sustainability goals," said Anne Mushow, Chief Executive Officer of Subeca.

Subeca is now live across 23 communities offering its bundled smart meter plus software package. We are so impressed with Anne and her team as they continue to impress as they deliver on their vision of smart water meters for all," said Christine Boyle, General Partner at Burnt Island Ventures.

Market and Business Growth

Subeca targets more than 51,000 utilities and businesses in the United States that, according to the company, have faced barriers to adopting advanced metering technology because of cost and complexity.

Its communication module uses Amazon’s Sidewalk network, which the company says covers more than 90% of the US population, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico.

Since its Series A financing, Subeca has built relationships with organizations across water technology, digital infrastructure and utility operations.
