Techcyte Raises $15M in Funding Led by Van Tuyl Companies

May 1, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Techcyte, an Orem, UT-based provider of AI-powered digital diagnostics for anatomic and clinical pathology, has raised $15 million in a funding round led by Van Tuyl Companies, with participation from existing investors Zoetis and Mayo Clinic.

This funding strengthens Techcytes ability to execute its strategy and move toward profitability. Its veterinary segment is already profitable, and the company expects its environmental and human health businesses to reach profitability next year. This progress comes as labs face growing pressure to deliver accurate results despite limited resources, higher testing volumes and staff shortages.

At the same time, digital pathology is becoming a key way to improve efficiency, and expand access to diagnostic expertise through remote workflows. Techcytes Fusion platform supports this shift by combining AI, digital workflows and integration with lab systems to streamline case reviews and scale operations.

To further advance these capabilities the funding also provides access to Mayo Clinic’s Safe Harbor dataset which includes over 17 million de-identified slides and reports. This data will help strengthen Techcytes AI and improve the performance of its Fusion platform.

By using AI in everyday diagnostic workflows, Techcyte helps labs deliver faster, more consistent, and more accessible results across different healthcare settings.

“Laboratories are being asked to do more with less, while maintaining high standards for quality and rapid turnaround times,” said Ben Cahoon, CEO of Techcyte. “Techcyte Fusion® directly addresses these challenges through unified AI-enabled pathology workflows. This investment allows us to continue growing the Fusion platform and to extend the world-class capabilities built in collaboration with Mayo Clinic. We are grateful to Van Tuyl Companies for leading this round and to Mayo Clinic and Zoetis for their continued collaboration and support.”
