What is Fearn?

Fearn provides an AI-powered platform that helps startups prepare patent applications faster and at a lower cost. Its platform is designed to take an invention from disclosure to a filing-ready patent draft in minutes.

Why the Funding Matters

Fearn will use the new capital to expand its operations and continue developing its AI-native patent platform.

The company is focused on making patent preparation faster and more accessible for startups and inventors that may not have large in-house intellectual property teams.

Who founded Fearn?

Fearn was founded by Han Kim and Angela Gao in 2025. The company is headquartered in San Francisco.

Leadership Comments

"Patents are how inventors turn ideas into lasting value, but in a first-to-file system, the priority date is everything, and access to fast priority dates has been gated by cost, complexity and institutional connections for far too long," said Han Kim, co-founder and CEO of Fearn. "I spent years in Big Law drafting patents the traditional way before building Fearn, and experienced firsthand what the gap looks like.

"Our world is accelerating due to speedups in technology and science, due to human ingenuity and AI model advancements. Intellectual property is the record-of-truth for technology, the design, engineering, and science carta for the world's industries, and the law and economics code by which we operate as innovators and capital markets," said Steve Jang, Founder and Managing Partner at Kindred Ventures.

Market and Business Growth

Fearn says its platform can reduce patent drafting from more than 50 hours to about 20 minutes and cut costs by up to 96%.

The company offers a flat $2,000 price per patent. Its platform is designed to support patent requirements including written-description sufficiency and figure labeling.

Fearn also says it does not make external API calls to outside AI models. It self-hosts the models used in its platform and offers customer-hosted VPC, single-tenant VPC, and multi-tenant VPC deployment options.

What Happens Next?

Fearn plans to use the new funding to expand its operations and continue developing its patent prosecution technology. The company will focus on improving its AI models, and supporting faster patent filing for startups and inventors.
