California-Based StrongestLayer Scores $4.1M in Seed Extension Funding

The round also saw participation from existing investor Sorenson Capital and new investors LaunchPod, Alumni Ventures, and Chris Key, former Chief Product Officer of Mandiant.

The company will use the funding to grow its go-to-market efforts and expand its platform.

Since its launch, StrongestLayer has seen rapid growth. Over the past 12 months, the number of customers using its platform in production has increased more than eightfold since the company announced its initial funding.

Instead of relying on known attack patterns, reputation databases, or signatures, StrongestLayer uses AI that analyzes the intent behind emails. It looks at the evidence, compares signs of legitimate and malicious activity, and makes decisions based on the specific context of the organization. This allows it to detect new threats, even if they have never been seen before.

Just months after launching, StrongestLayer outperformed both traditional email security products and newer AI-based solutions in several competitive evaluations. It consistently detected email attacks that other platforms failed to identify.
