Cowboy Space Corporation, a San Carlos, CA-based orbital infrastructure company, has raised $275 million in a Series B funding round led by Index Ventures, with participation from IVP, Blossom Capital, SAIC, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Construct Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, Interlagos, and founder Baiju Bhatt. The company is valued at $ 2 Billion.
The company plans to launch its first satellite into orbit later this year to test space-to-Earth power transmission technology. Its team includes engineers from SpaceX, Astranis, NASA, Project Kuiper, and NVIDIA.
The company, which had operated under the name Aetherflux since its 2024 founding, is now introducing a new name and brand identity.
Cowboy Space Corporation is developing space-based infrastructure to run AI computing in orbit as demand for computing power on Earth grows. The company is building a network of low Earth orbit satellites powered by solar energy, along with a dedicated launch vehicle and computing systems designed for space use.

Its rocket upper stage and data center payload are built as a single integrated system to reduce weight and improve efficiency. Once in orbit, each upper stage is designed to operate as a 1-megawatt data center.
Cowboy Space Corporation is also working with NVIDIA to deploy NVIDIA Space-1 Vera Rubin Modules, bringing advanced AI computing technology to low Earth orbit.
"Our approach starts from a blank sheet, where the unique requirements of data centers in orbit drive the form and function of the overall system," said Baiju Bhatt, founder and CEO of Cowboy Space Corporation. "The rocket and the data center are a single design from day one. It’s a first-principles departure from the traditional constellation model."

"Cowboy is building at exactly the right moment, as demand for AI compute and energy begins to outstrip what terrestrial infrastructure can support,” said Jan Hammer, Partner at Index Ventures. “Baiju has a proven track record of reimagining massive markets from first principles, and his lifelong passion for physics makes space the ultimate market opportunity for that ambition. We're excited to back the team as they execute on this vision."
About Cowboy Space Corporation
Founded by Baiju Bhatt, Headquartered in San Carlos, Cowboy Space Corporation, formerly known as Aetherflux, is building space-based infrastructure for AI computing, including launch vehicles, orbital power systems, and in-orbit data centers. Cowboy Space is developing its “Stampede” satellite network to use solar energy for powering AI GPU data centers in low Earth orbit, aiming to expand computing capacity beyond the limits of Earth’s energy grid.
