Dominion Dynamics, an Ottawa, Canada-based developer of next-generation defense systems and Arctic autonomy software stacks, has raised $139 million CAD (approximately $100m USD) in a Series A funding round led by Georgian.
The round also saw participation from Valor Equity Partners, Expeditions, Lakestar, OMERS, BDC, RBC, Deloitte Ventures, JDY Capital, and existing backers BCI, Bessemer Venture Partners, Garage Capital, Golden Ventures, and Silent Ventures.
The company plans to use the funding to speed up the deployment of its software, support the development of its Scout autonomous collaboration platform, expand its engineering team to more than 100 employees across multiple regions, and increase its production capacity.

The funding follows a period of strong growth and execution. Earlier this year, Dominion deployed its flagship software platform, AuraNet, with the Canadian Armed Forces during Operation Nanook-Nunalivut.
During the two-month mission in the High Arctic, Canadian Rangers used AuraNet and Dominion’s Arctic-ready sensors to combine communications and data into a single operational view, improving mission planning, tracking, and real-time coordination. The deployment was fully self-funded and reflects the company’s hands-on approach to developing its technology alongside end users.
The funding will also help Dominion expand its workforce to more than 100 employees by the end of the year. The company has hired experienced engineers from Anduril, Tesla, Rheinmetall, Google, and Rivian, along with veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Dominion’s funding comes at a key time for Canada’s defence industry. Canada has reached NATO’s target of spending 2% of GDP on defence and, along with its allies, has committed to increasing that level to 5% by 2035.
The Canadian government has also introduced its first Defence Industrial Strategy and created the Defence Investment Agency. It plans to direct 70% of defence spending to Canadian companies, increase defence research and development by 85%, boost defence exports by 50%, and create 125,000 new jobs, marking a major expansion of the country’s defence industry.
"Canada once built technology the rest of the world wanted, then convinced itself that was someone else's role. We started Dominion to show the capability never left, and this round lets us build at the scale and speed the moment demands," said Eliot Pence, founder and CEO of Dominion Dynamics.
"Starting in the Arctic means starting with the hardest problem set on Earth," said Pence. "The engineers joining Dominion understand that technology proven in the world's toughest environment can succeed anywhere."
