SUMMARY
- Flexcompute secured strategic investment from Samsung Ventures and others.
- Funds will support hiring and AI development.
- Flexcompute builds AI tools for engineering design.
Flexcompute, an AI and physics technology company, has secured a strategic investment from Samsung Ventures and Applied Ventures, the venture capital arm of Applied Materials, along with other investors. The investment amount was not disclosed.
The company will use the funding to expand its research team, increase GPU computing capacity, and develop its Physics World Model across fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, structures, heat and multiphysics applications.
What is Flexcompute?
Flexcompute develops AI technology that predicts how products and designs will behave in real-world conditions by combining machine learning with the laws of physics.

Its main development, the Physics World Model, is designed to predict physical behaviour across applications ranging from semiconductor packaging to spacecraft systems. The technology aims to help engineers test and improve designs before they are built.
Flexcompute uses GPU-based solvers for fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, structural analysis, and thermal simulations. Through its Tokenized Physics approach, the company combines neural networks with first principles physics to produce predictions that follow physical conservation laws.
Who Invested in Flexcompute’s Strategic Funding Round?
The announced strategic investors include:
- Samsung Ventures
- Applied Ventures, the venture capital arm of Applied Materials
- Other undisclosed investors
The company has not disclosed the investment amount or the individual contributions of participating investors.
Why the Funding Matters
Flexcompute will use the investment to expand its research team, scale GPU computing resources, and extend its Physics World Model across additional areas of physics.
The company plans to strengthen its capabilities in fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, structural analysis, heat transfer, and multiphysics coupling.
These developments are intended to help engineers and AI agents evaluate more complex designs and test their performance before manufacturing or deployment.
Who founded Flexcompute?
Flexcompute was founded in 2015 by Vera Yang, Qiqi Wang and Zongfu Yu. The company was established by researchers from Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
"Language models learned the world from text. Hardware is governed by laws, not text, and no amount of data substitutes for them," said Vera Yang, Co-Founder and President of Flexcompute. "We are building the verification layer between bits and atoms: a Physics World Model any engineer or AI agent can ask whether a design will work, before it is built.
"AI is changing how products are designed, but those products still have to obey the laws of physics," said the representative of Samsung Ventures. "Flexcompute is building AI that understands those laws, not just the data.
Market and Business Growth
Flexcompute's team of more than 70 PhDs develops technology for fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, structures, and thermal analysis.
Its Physics World Model is designed to combine data-driven AI with physical laws, while its Physics Twins allow customers to test and optimise their own products before building them.
The company is expanding its technology to cover a wider range of physical systems and interactions, including multiphysics applications.
