With the new funding, Dopl will work toward FDA clearance for its product lineup, including the Traverse™ remote robotic ultrasound system, the Dopl Connect™ data platform, and the SonoFlex™ workforce management solution.
The platform will allow sonographers to perform ultrasound exams remotely for patients across multiple locations, helping improve access to diagnostic care, especially in rural, and underserved communities.
Dopl's team has strong experience in robotics, AI, medical devices, and clinical operations. The company was founded by a former NVIDIA medical AI engineer together with practicing cardiologists and radiologists. Its team also includes experts who have previously worked at Butterfly Network, Philips, Microsoft, and Amazon.
Dopl launched its CareBridge™ ultrasound service to meet patient needs while working toward FDA clearance. The service also helps the company build partnerships with hospitals and gather real-world feedback from patients and healthcare providers.
CareBridge provides hospitals with travelling sonographers to ensure uninterrupted ultrasound services. In areas where it operates, patients have seen wait times reduced by up to 90%. These hospitals are expected to be the first to adopt Dopl's remote robotic ultrasound platform after it receives FDA clearance.
“We're excited to support Dopl Technologies and its unique, category-defining approach as a physical AI company. Dopl is primed to deliver a cost-efficient, revenue-generating model for health systems, enabling skilled sonographers to work from home, allowing more patients to receive care when and where they need it most,” said Austin Walters, Co-founder and Managing Partner of SpringTide Ventures.
“Our outstanding team is energized and now capitalized to move quickly through the regulatory process to deliver reliable, remote robotic ultrasound to patients who today must often travel hours to receive essential care,” said Ryan James, PhD, CEO and Co-founder of Dopl Technologies. “This is a critical step toward providing specialty care, anywhere, through telerobotic and autonomous care delivery, bridging the healthcare divide that affects tens of millions of people in the United States alone.”
