California-Based Pilot Protocol Scores $4.5M in Seed Funding

The company will use the funding to expand its operations and support the development of its products and technology.

AI agents are becoming one of the biggest changes in technology, but most of them still work on their own. They are tied to a single user or system and cannot easily find or communicate with other AI agents. As the number of AI agents grows rapidly, the need for a network that connects them is becoming more important.

Pilot was created to solve this problem. It gives every AI agent its own identity and allows it to discover, trust, and work with other agents automatically, without human setup. Developers can connect an agent by running a single installation command.

Today, around 250,000 AI agents use the Pilot network, generating nearly two billion requests every day. Most agents join automatically, and within an hour many begin using Pilot instead of Google to start tasks. The network has grown quickly, at times adding about 16,000 new agents in just one day.

"We published smolmachines on the Pilot App Store and picked up 3,000 agent installs in the first few days, with zero marketing spend. We didn't drive a single one of those installs, the agents just showed up and started spinning up machines on their own. I've never seen a channel where the users onboard themselves," said Binbin, CTO, smolmachines.
