Hippo Harvest Closes $30M Series C Funding Led by Cox Farms

Jul 11, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Hippo Harvest, a Pescadero, CA-based leafy greens grower whose robotics- and machine learning-powered greenhouses produce USDA-certified organic greens, has raised $30 million in a Series C funding round led by Cox Farms.

The company will use the funding to support the planned expansion of a new 30-acre facility in Hollister, California, which is currently awaiting permits. It will also invest in developing its robotic growing system, increase its growing capacity from one acre, and speed up the commercial rollout of its indoor-grown spinach.

The launch of indoor-grown spinach is an important milestone for Hippo Harvest. Earlier in 2026, the company also introduced it's Butter Lettuce to retail customers. Together, these products are helping build a range of indoor-grown greens that can be supplied consistently throughout the year.

Hippo Harvest combines greenhouse-grown and organic field-grown greens to offer customers more variety and a reliable supply. This approach helps the company maintain production even as climate change continues to affect traditional farming.

Hippo Harvest's farming system is powered by its own robotic technology, which uses Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and machine learning to monitor, care for, and harvest crops throughout the growing process. The system also uses robotic "tractors" to automatically move growing modules, helping make better use of space and improve crop yields.

"Hippo Harvest is doing something genuinely exciting in indoor agriculture, and we're proud to be part of this next chapter," said Steve Bradley, president of Cox Farms. "Cox Farms actively looks for opportunities to support innovation and new technologies across indoor agriculture. We can't wait to watch them scale."

"Closing this round and bringing Spinach to market in the same moment is a real signal of where Hippo Harvest is headed," said Eitan Marder-Eppstein, CEO and co-founder of Hippo Harvest. "We've spent years building a system that can grow certified organic greens consistently and at a price that works for both retailers and consumers. This investment lets us do that at the next level of scale."
