HYFIX Raises $15M in Seed Funding Led by Craft Ventures

Apr 16, 2026 | By Startuprise io

HYFIX Spatial Intelligence, Inc., a Santa Clara, CA-based semiconductor company building autonomous system chips, has raised $15 million in a Seed funding round led by Craft Ventures.

The round also saw participation from Catapult Ventures, Multicoin Capital, Finality Capital, and Sky Dayton.

The company plans to use the funds to grow its operations and support its development work.

Today’s drone hardware is complex and relies on many separate components, such as flight controllers, GPS, radios and onboard computers, often sourced from outside the United States. This creates supply risks, slows innovation, and raises concerns about security, reliability, and long-term availability.

New regulations are speeding up change. Recent FCC restrictions on some foreign-made drones and components are pushing U.S. companies to switch to more trusted, locally made alternatives.

In response, HYFIX is building a new foundation for drones, robots, and autonomous systems by creating a single, highly integrated chip (SoC). This chip replaces the many separate components used in today’s drones with a single, secure, low-power platform made in the United States that combines flight control, positioning, communication, and computing into a single system.

By removing the need for multiple disconnected parts, HYFIX helps manufacturers build smaller, lighter, more efficient and more reliable systems, while also reducing development time and overall costs.

The HYFIX Autonomous Systems Chip combines flight control, precise positioning, secure wireless communication, and onboard computing into one low-power chip. It is built to work reliably even in areas with weak or no GPS signal and supports popular open-source platforms such as ROS 2, ArduPilot, and PX4.

The system also provides highly accurate positioning by connecting with the GEODNET Real-Time Kinematic network and new low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, allowing drones and robots to operate more accurately and reliably in real-world conditions.

HYFIX plans to deliver production ready autonomous system chips to select customers this year. The company is also building a lightweight reference drone under 250g to showcase the platform, with shipments expected later this year.

“There is no complete U.S.-based supply chain for drones today,” said Jeff Fluhr, Venture Partner at Craft Ventures. He said HYFIX is addressing a key part of this problem by developing custom chips, allowing U.S. companies to build advanced autonomous systems without relying on foreign technology.

“Whether it’s a small consumer drone or a large autonomous system, the main challenges are the same—power, precision, reliability, and security,” said Mike Horton, CEO of HYFIX Spatial Intelligence. He said HYFIX provides a single chip that works across different use cases, rather than forcing companies to combine many separate, fragile components from multiple suppliers.

About HYFIX Spatial Intelligence, Inc.

Founded in 2022, HYFIX Spatial Intelligence is a U.S.-based semiconductor company that develops chips for drones and robotics. Its technology combines flight control, precise positioning, secure communication, and onboard computing into one platform, helping create safer, more reliable, and more affordable autonomous systems. The company is focused on bringing key technology and manufacturing back to the United States.
