Oblenio Bio Closes $62M Series B Funding Led by Pfizer Ventures

Jun 26, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Oblenio Bio, a Cambridge, MA-based company that specializes in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, has raised $62 milion in a Series B funding round led by Pfizer Ventures.

The round also saw participation from new investors Deep Track Capital and GV, alongside Aditum Bio. In conjunction with the financing, Dr. Melnikova and Rebecca Luse, Managing Director at Deep Track Capital, have joined Oblenio’s Board of Directors.

The company plans to use the funds to support early clinical development of LBL-051, a tri-specific T-cell engager designed to reset the immune system and treat patients with difficult-to-treat autoimmune diseases.

Oblenio recently shared preclinical data at the 2026 European Congress of Rheumatology (EULAR 2026), showing that its therapy can safely achieve a strong and lasting reset of the immune system.

With step-up dosing, the treatment fully removed B cells and plasma cells from both blood and tissues in non-human primates. As the immune system recovered, new immature B cells appeared in the blood, which is similar to patterns seen in autoimmune patients who achieve long-term remission without ongoing treatment.

The study also showed that the therapy did not trigger cytokine release syndrome, even at high doses. In addition, immunoglobulin levels in the blood decreased in a dose-dependent way, confirming plasma cell depletion. Based on these results, the company is now preparing to move into clinical trials.

“Aditum founded Oblenio to execute on the significant potential of combining BCMA, CD19 and CD3 targeting in autoimmune disease, differentiating from other single-target or bispecific options,” said Mr. Gertsman. “We are excited to continue supporting Oblenio as it validates this approach in the clinic, alongside an exceptional syndicate of world-class investors.”

“LBL-051 has the potential to transform the treatment of autoimmune disease, supported by robust preclinical data demonstrating broad B-cell and plasma cell depletion without causing cytokine release syndrome,” said Samantha Truex, Chief Executive Officer of Oblenio Bio. “This financing will accelerate LBL-051’s clinical development, including the initiation of our first-in-human proof-of-concept study this year, and we as a team will be singularly focused on establishing the power of this approach across indications.”

“Long-term drug-free remission could have a life-changing impact for autoimmune disease patients, and LBL-051’s differentiated preclinical profile suggests it may have the potential to contribute to that goal,” said Irena Melnikova, Ph.D., Partner at Pfizer Ventures. “Oblenio’s leadership has brought multiple groundbreaking therapeutics to patients, and I look forward to working with this accomplished group to advance LBL-051 through a robust clinical development plan rapidly.”

About Oblenio Bio

Oblenio Bio is developing a therapy designed to reset the immune system and treat hard-to-treat autoimmune diseases using its LBL-051 T-cell engager. The treatment is built specifically for autoimmune patients and combines three targets—BCMA, CD19, and CD3—to remove B cells and plasma cells. The goal is to achieve long-term, drug-free remission.
