Oligomerix Appoints Cara Cassino Chief Executive Officer

The company is developing small-molecule treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and other rare neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Cassino brings 25 years of experience in clinical drug development and commercialization across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. She has been involved in more than 25 FDA and EMA drug approvals.

She previously held senior leadership roles at Boehringer Ingelheim, and Pfizer, where she contributed to the success of the respiratory drug Spiriva. She later served as Senior Vice President of Clinical Development at Forest Laboratories, now part of AbbVie.

Cassino has also held several executive roles in biotech, including Chief Medical Officer, EVP of Research & Development, and Interim Co-CEO at ContraFect. She has helped secure major funding, partnerships, and acquisitions, including an $86 million BARDA grant. She has served on Oligomerix’s Board of Directors since July 2025.
