PteroDynamics Receives Investment From One Bow River

May 22, 2026 | By Startuprise io

PteroDynamics Inc., a Colorado Springs, Colorado-based company that develops autonomous VTOL aircraft systems, has received an investment from One Bow River. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The company plans to use the funds to speed up the development and flight testing of its Transwing VTOL drone systems and expand manufacturing to meet growing demand from defense and commercial customers worldwide.

ONE Bow River’s National Defense Fund invests in important technology companies that support U.S. national security and strengthen the country’s industrial base. PteroDynamics’ Transwing is an innovative VTOL aircraft system that can fold its wings to switch between vertical takeoff and efficient horizontal flight.

PteroDynamics’ Transwing drone platform matches ONE Bow River’s focus on advanced technologies that support aerospace, defense readiness, and logistics in challenging environments.

The autonomous fourth-generation P4 Transwing VTOL drone has a takeoff weight of 89 pounds and can carry payloads of up to 15 pounds. In 2025, the U.S. Navy awarded PteroDynamics a contract to develop the larger fifth-generation P5 Transwing. The new model will have a maximum takeoff weight of 330 pounds, a range of more than 400 nautical miles, and the ability to carry a 50-pound payload at 70 knots. Initial flight testing is expected to begin later this summer.
