RadianX Raises $9M to Scale Perovskite Solar Production

SUMMARY

  • RadianX raised $9 million in funding.
  • The funds will support manufacturing and expansion.
  • RadianX makes thin solar panels.

RadianX, a Redwood City, California-based company developing ultra-thin perovskite solar modules, has raised $9 million through a Seed round, and project financing.

The Seed round was co-led by SOSV and Twynam, with participation from One Small Planet, Sahsen Ventures, Avila VC, California Innovation Fund, quantumEDGE, Riceberg Ventures, and Alumni Ventures.

Alongside the funding, Pacific Union Technology Precision Manufacturing (PUT), a publicly listed precision components manufacturer, is partnering with RadianX to finance a dedicated production line.

The company plans to use the capital to build its first automated 6MW production line, increase commercial production, expand hardware partnerships, and support global market deployment.

What is RadianX?

RadianX develops ultra-thin perovskite solar modules that can generate electricity from indoor, outdoor, and low-light environments. Its technology is designed for devices such as sensors, wearables, connected products, and Physical AI applications.

Unlike conventional silicon solar cells, perovskite modules can continue generating meaningful power in indoor and low-light conditions. This can help device makers extend battery life, reduce battery size and, in some applications, avoid regular battery replacements.

The company's modules are as thin as 0.7mm and can be customised in size and output voltage. They are designed to fit directly into the surfaces of existing products.

RadianX says it has addressed key challenges that have slowed the commercial use of perovskite technology, including material durability, efficiency at larger module sizes, and concerns about lead content.

About RadianX

How Much Funding Has RadianX Raised?

RadianX has raised $9 million through its latest Seed and project financing round.

The company has not disclosed its total funding raised to date or details of previous funding rounds.

The financing also includes support for a dedicated production line through its partnership with PUT.

Who Invested in RadianX’s Seed Round?

The Seed round was co-led by SOSV and Twynam.

Other participating investors include:

  • One Small Planet
  • Sahsen Ventures
  • Avila VC
  • California Innovation Fund
  • quantumEDGE
  • Riceberg Ventures
  • Alumni Ventures

Separately, PUT is partnering with RadianX to fund a dedicated production line for commercial manufacturing.

Why the Funding Matters

RadianX will use the funding to build its first automated 6MW production line and increase commercial-volume production of its perovskite modules.

The company also plans to expand hardware integration with device makers and accelerate its entry into global markets.

The production partnership with PUT is expected to support the transition from module development to commercial manufacturing.

Who founded RadianX?

RadianX was founded in 2024 by Vivian Qu, and Josh Douglas. The company is headquartered in Redwood City, California.

"Most connected devices still depend on a battery that someone has to replace," said Josh Douglas, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of RadianX. "Our job is to turn that light those devices already receive into power, to drive increased uptime and even reduce or eliminate the battery."

"Perovskite is a nanomaterial that doesn't depend on the silicon supply chain. It is carbon-light, needs no rare materials, and can be manufactured from start to finish in a single facility, which means it can be made almost anywhere," said Vivian Qu, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of RadianX.

Market and Business Growth

RadianX has reported progress in module efficiency, durability, and safety certification.

Its modules are among the first perovskite modules to receive TÜV certification across all three categories of IEC TS 63163, including Category 3, which covers products with high outdoor exposure.

RadianX is participating in the 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator, run by Plug and Play. It is also working with NGK Corporation to combine its solar modules with NGK's EnerCera batteries for wireless asset trackers.

What Happens Next?

RadianX plans to establish its first automated 6MW production line and scale manufacturing to meet commercial demand.

The company will also continue integrating its modules into products developed by device makers and expand its global market presence. Its initial focus is on hardware applications where low-light energy generation can help reduce dependence on conventional batteries.
