Shifters Raises $10.2M in Seed Funding Led by Ace Capital Partners

Jun 4, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Shifters, a Washington, DC-based technology company building AI-native autonomous robotic teams, has raised $10.2 million in a Seed funding round led by Ace Capital Partners.

The round also saw participation from Aurelius Capital Management, Corner Ventures, Arkin Capital, STEP World, and Fresh Fund. The raise brought the total amount to $15 million.

The company plans to use the funding to expand its operations and accelerate product development.

Drones have changed how military and security teams gather intelligence, monitor areas, and extend their reach from the air. Shifters is applying the same idea on the ground, helping teams explore dangerous environments such as rubble, tunnels, contaminated areas, and restricted zones without putting people at risk before enough information is available.

Recent U.S. defense and innovation initiatives have focused on AI, autonomous systems, open platforms, and technologies that can improve military capabilities. Shifters is developing supervised autonomous ground systems designed to be affordable, easy to integrate, and scalable for widespread deployment.

Shifters is building its platform using open and modular design principles, making it easier to customize for different missions and integrate with existing customer systems. The company has already demonstrated robotic entry and navigation capabilities for defense and security organizations. The new funding will help expand its AI capabilities, increase manufacturing readiness and support growth across its operations in the United States, the Middle East and Europe.

Its technology can be used for military and security missions such as reconnaissance, intelligence collection, perimeter surveillance, sensing, and mission planning in high-risk environments. Commercial uses include infrastructure inspections, agriculture, mining and search and rescue operations.

“At Ace Capital Partners, we continue to back the technologies redefining defense and dual-use autonomy. Shifters is exactly that kind of company, and the AI motion control layer it is building is exactly the kind of capability we believe will define the next era of ground robotics,” said Shimon Tsentsiper, Co-founder and Managing Partner, Ace Capital Partners.

“The challenge is not simply building a robot that can move,” said Assaf Chaprak, CTO and Co-founder, Shifters. “It is solving a dual hardware and software challenge: enabling robotic teams to operate in demanding environments while keeping human supervision simple. Ultimately, the goal is to make these systems deployable at scale, so they can help reduce risk to human life where the operating conditions are most complex. That is the multi-layered challenge Shifters is solving.”

“The first asset into a dangerous environment should increasingly be a robot, not a person,” said Ofer Ballin, CEO and Co-founder of Shifters. “This funding allows us to accelerate the systems that make that possible: coordinated robotic teams that can be directed, intuitively, by one operator, adapt to complex ground environments and reduce human exposure before a mission escalates.”

About Shifters

Founded by Ofer Ballin and Assaf Chaprak, Shifters develops AI-powered robotic systems for defense, security, and high risk commercial operations. The company’s mission is to send robots into dangerous environments before people, helping reduce risk to human life. Its platform combines AI, mission coordination software, and modular ground robots that can explore, monitor, and operate in hazardous areas. Shifters technology is designed for use in defense, public safety, infrastructure inspection and emergency response applications.
