Acadia Pharmaceuticals Appoints Carl Segerstrom as Chief People Officer

Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. has appointed Carl Segerstrom as its Chief People Officer, effective July 6. He will join the companys executive leadership team.
In his new role, Segerstrom will lead Acadia's global people and culture strategy, supporting the company's continued growth as it develops treatments for neurological and rare diseases with significant unmet medical needs.
Carl Segerstrom brings more than 25 years of experience in global human resources leadership in the biopharmaceutical industry, including 17 years at Merck. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Merck's Human Health Division, supporting a global business with operations in 80 countries.

During his time at Merck, Segerstrom held several senior leadership positions, including Chief Talent Officer. In that role, he led the company's global talent strategy, executive succession planning, leadership development, and workforce transformation. Earlier in his career, he also held HR leadership roles at Pharmacia, Schering-Plough, and Pfizer across international markets.
Segerstrom has extensive experience in organizational transformation, talent strategy, and digital and AI-driven workforce initiatives. He has also led large-scale hiring programs, recruiting more than 10,000 employees each year, and managed workforce planning across global teams.
