Avery Dennison Invests $75M in Wiliot to Expand Physical AI
Apr 28, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Wiliot, a San Diego-based provider of physical AI solutions for supply chains, has received a $75 million minority investment from Avery Dennison Corporation. As part of the deal, Avery Dennison will gain a seat on Wiliot’s Board of Directors, in addition to its current role as a board observer.
As part of the deal, Avery Dennison Corporation will become Wiliot's preferred partner for inlay design, manufacturing, and commercial support. Together, the companies will expand their go to market efforts to accelerate the adoption of digital identities on physical products across industries such as retail, logistics and food.
Building on its RFID expertise and using Wiliot’s technology, Avery Dennison Corporation is well-positioned to help customers solve complex challenges with a mix of sensing technologies. As businesses rely more on AI to automate processes and improve decision-making, the need for accurate sensor data is growing.
“We believe in the power of passive Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) and the significant opportunity to expand our portfolio with the solutions from Wiliot,” said Francisco Melo, president, intelligent labels technologies and digital solutions for Avery Dennison. “BLE is a complementary technology to RFID. It increases the total addressable market and allows us to provide a broader set of solutions, improving visibility and condition monitoring for our customers, unlocking previously unavailable data sets. With our strategic investment in Wiliot, we meet growing market demands to create value by connecting the physical and digital worlds.”
