Chptr Raises $5.5M in Series A Funding led by CityRock

Chptr, a NYC-based company building the new distribution layer service for community stories, has raised $5.5 million in a Series A funding round led by CityRock.

The round also saw participation from Tribute Technology as well as strategic partnerships with iHeartMedia, Sinclair and Hearst.

The company plans to use the funding to launch a subscription-based model that will help small and medium-sized businesses connect with local audiences through TV, radio, and digital advertising channels.

By bringing together major television, radio, and local media operators, Chptr is creating a new way to deliver important community information at a time when the industry is looking for more effective local media models.

As algorithm-driven news platforms become more common, Chptr aims to help people share meaningful announcements through trusted local media channels. The company is starting with end of life memorial content, and plans to strengthen community connections through local broadcasting networks.

Chptr's technology allows local and time-sensitive stories to move from creation to distribution in less than 24 hours. Through direct integrations with major media networks, content can be delivered across television, digital platforms, and radio.
