Flux Raises $5M in New Funding Led by Calibrate Ventures

Flux, a Boston, MA-based provider of a code‑first engineering intelligence platform, has raised $5 million in a new funding round led by Calibrate Ventures.

The round also saw participation from existing investors True Ventures and Glasswing Ventures.

The company plans to use the funding to enhance its AI-powered analysis of complex software codebases, expand features that connect AI-driven transformation with cost, quality, security, and technical debt management, and grow both its engineering and go-to-market teams.

Engineering leaders are finding it increasingly difficult to track what is happening across their development teams. Traditional management tools rely on manually updated tickets and workflows, making it hard to keep pace with todays fast moving software development environment.

Flux addresses this challenge by analyzing code changes directly to provide real time visibility into engineering work. The platform help's leaders identify risks technical debt, and team performance trends enabling organizations to develop software faster while maintaining control, and oversight.

One example is Cobalt, a leading provider of penetration testing as a service (PTaaS) and AI-powered offensive security. As AI-assisted software development became a bigger part of its engineering workflow, the company wanted a clearer understanding of how its teams' work was changing.

Using Fluxs work type analysis Cobalt was able to turn assumptions into measurable insights. The platform showed a clear shift from maintenance work toward feature development, providing data that the finance team used to support increased eligibility for R&D tax credits.

"There is so much enthusiasm now. We've brought playfulness back into building software, and it's paying off," said Mike Garon, VP of Engineering, Cobalt. "Engineers are exploring ideas freely, then turning the best ones into production-ready capabilities that move the needle for customers."

"Engineering leaders don't need more dashboards. They need a direct line into how their code is evolving day to day," said Jason Schoettler, Co–Founder and Managing Partner, Calibrate Ventures. "Flux's code–first approach gives them exactly that, tying code changes to quality, security, and business impact. We're excited to back Ted and the Flux team."

"Flux insights are based on the source of truth, the code, so leaders can lean into AI without flying blind," said Ted Julian, CEO and Founder, Flux. "Every other major business function has a system of record. Engineering needs one that's ready for the Age of AI. We're building that system around the code itself, so leaders can easily and confidently answer the questions that matter most: Are we really getting value from AI? Where could we be doing better? Is our AI transformation creating risk we can't see?"

About Flux

Founded by Ted Julian, Flux is an engineering intelligence platform that gives software leaders real time visibility into what is happening across their codebases. By analyzing code directly instead of relying on tickets and manual reporting, the platform helps teams understand development activity, identify risks and technical debt, and connect engineering work to business results. This enables organizations to make better decisions, improve team performance, detect issues earlier and focus more effectively on innovation and growth.
