Scout Space, a Reston, Va.-based provider of space domain awareness (SDA) sensors and software, has raised to $18 million in a Series A funding round led by Washington Harbor Partners.
The company plans to use the new funding to expand its manufacturing capacity, including the construction of a new 2,600-square-foot facility in Northern Virginia.
Scout’s sensors and software provide real-time awareness in space. Its platform combines advanced optical sensors, edge computing, and autonomous systems to detect, track, and identify objects in orbit, helping improve safety and decision-making for both commercial and national security missions.
Scout focuses on a scalable, modular design that sets it apart in the industry. Instead of building the entire hardware stack, the company specializes in providing trusted sensors, and software for space domain awareness. These solutions are built to deliver high performance, and can easily integrate with different platforms and partners.

Scout is entering its next growth phase with strong mission and contract progress. The company is working with Blue Origin to integrate its Owl sensor on the first Blue Ring mission, a flexible spacecraft designed for payload hosting and on-orbit services in GEO and beyond.
At the same time, Scout is expanding its work with the US Space Force through multiple TACFI awards, improving its sensing systems and data platforms for tracking objects, identifying assets and supporting space operations.

"At Scout Space, we understand that a widely proliferated network of in-space sensors is fundamental to understanding and operating safely in orbit," said Josiah Gruber, CEO of Scout Space. "With this investment, we're expanding our ability to deliver at speed for our customers—while deepening our presence in Northern Virginia, where proximity to mission partners and decision-makers is unmatched."
"Space is becoming more dynamic, contested, and critical to national security," said Mina Faltas, Founder and CIO of Washington Harbor Partners. "Scout is building the sensing layer needed to understand and operate in that environment. Their platform-agnostic approach allows them to integrate across missions and architectures—positioning them as a critical supplier in the next generation of space infrastructure."
About Scout Space
Founded in 2019, Scout Space is focused on improving space safety, and transparency. Its in space sensors and services, first launched in 2021, help spacecraft see and understand their surroundings, while its orbital sensor network aims to strengthen Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and support responsible use of space. Investors back the company, which has participated in programs such as Techstars and MassChallenge, and works with both government and commercial partners.
