Suno Raises Over $400M in Series D Funding at $5.4 Billion Valuation

Jun 5, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Suno, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based developer of AI-powered music generation systems, has raised over $400 million in a Series D funding round led by Bond Capital.

The round also saw participation from IVP, Forerunner Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Alkeon Capital, Quiet Capital, Matrix Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, and Schroders Capital. The company is valued at $5.4 billion.

The company plans to use the funding to expand its AI training infrastructure, grow its product engineering team, and speed up the global rollout of its music creation platform.

A music generation model developed with Warner Music Group is expected to be released in the coming months. Warner Music Group settled its copyright dispute with Suno through a licensing agreement last year. The company also suggested that additional agreements with other industry partners may be announced in the future.

However, not all major record labels have reached agreements with Suno. Universal Music Group and Sony Music are still pursuing copyright lawsuits against the company. They recently expanded their claims, alleging that more than 61,000 songs were used in Suno’s training data without permission. In addition, class-action lawsuits against both Suno and Udio have received support from more than 1,800 independent artists.

In recent months, Suno has become part of everyday life in unexpected ways. People are turning text messages, group chats and inside jokes into songs, while others are creating music for birthdays, graduations and workplace events. Growing popularity has helped Suno reach the top spot in the App Store’s Music category in many countries.

The platform has also been used in meaningful personal situations. Hospice patients have created songs as lasting messages for loved ones, therapists have used it to help teenagers express themselves and address mental health challenges, and caregivers have made personalized songs for people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s to reconnect them with memories and familiar voices.

Suno is being used not only by professional producers and songwriter's but also by millions of people creating music for the first time. The platform is helping make music creation more accessible allowing a much broader audience to express themselves through music.
