Tachyus to Join SLB to Accelerate AI- Driven Reservoir Management

May 30, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Tachyus, a provider of AI-powered software for reservoir management, production optimization, and emissions management, announced that SLB (formerly Schlumberger) plans to acquire the company.

The planned acquisition will combine Tachyus's AI, machine learning, reservoir modeling, optimization, and reservoir management technologies with SLB's global technology platform, industry expertise, and worldwide customer network.

The acquisition is expected to help Tachyus bring its technology to more customers around the world while strengthening SLB’s digital and production optimization offerings.

Together, the companies plan to develop smarter reservoir management systems that continuously learn from operational data and use predictive models to improve decision-making. This approach is designed to improve collaboration between reservoir and production teams, increase field performance, lower operating costs, and support more sustainable, lower-carbon operations.

Tachyus has grown from a startup into a global technology company that serves oil and gas operators around the world. Through platforms such as Aqueon for reservoir management, and optimization, and Aurion for emissions monitoring and reporting, the company helps operators make faster, smarter and more sustainable decisions.

Its Data Physics™ approach combines reservoir science, machine learning, and operational data to build predictive models that can be updated quickly and used to improve complex field operations and decision-making.

Tachyus’s technology is expected to strengthen SLB’s digital platform by adding AI powered reservoir modeling and optimization tools. These capabilities include rapid model creation, scenario analysis, uncertainty assessment, and continuously updated decision support workflows. SLB’s global reach and technical resources will also help Tachyus expand its solutions across more assets, recovery methods and operating environments worldwide.

Tachyus helps operators around the world use AI and physics-based models to improve oil and gas production across a wide range of recovery and optimization processes, including waterfloods, steamfloods, gas injection, polymer injection, CO₂ enhanced oil recovery, and unconventional production. Its Aurion platform also helps companies manage greenhouse gas emissions by providing tools for emissions estimation, forecasting, optimization, and reporting.

"This transaction represents a strong strategic fit for Tachyus, SLB, and our customers," said Matt Elbert, Chief Financial Officer of Tachyus. "Tachyus has built a highly differentiated technology platform, a strong customer base, and a team with deep domain expertise. With SLB, we gain the scale, resources, and global reach to expand our impact while continuing to focus on the customer outcomes that have defined Tachyus from the beginning: better decisions, improved performance, lower costs and more sustainable operations."

"We are deeply grateful to the Tachyus team and to every customer, and partner who believed in our vision," Gutierrez added. "Their trust, collaboration and commitment to innovation made this moment possible. We are proud of what we have accomplished, and excited for what comes next with SLB."
